Okay, I said I was drawing the line at discussion of/comparison with paedophilia and I'm sticking to it.
I'm locking this thread now, given the discussion of that and the unpromising original post that kicked it off.
I do feel that we've probably gone over this ground well enough already, but I certainly wouldn't automatically ban any new thread on this topic that starts off with a thoughtful, constructive contribution (whether in favour or against the scene) and that managed to avoid comparisons with having sex with children.
