Hi everyone. Given that we've been told we will be able to respec our characters levels at any stage, I have a question on how to build a Ranger/Rogue/Fighter. What will be optimal as we progress through the 12 levels?

Option 1:
Ranger (Gloomstalker) for 5 levels,
Rogue (Assassin) for 4 levels, and then
Fighter (Champion or Battlemaster) for the final 3 levels.

We need to attain 2 ASIs/Feats as we need Sharpshooter and possibly Crossbow Expert as well (depends on whether we can continue to use our bonus action to attack with a hand crossbow).

Option 2:
Fighter (C or BM) for 6 levels,
Ranger (GS) for 3 levels, and
Rogue (A) for 3 levels.

This option allows us to get 2 ASIs/Feats by level 6.

Question. With the respect ability can anyone see a better way? We could progress down one path before making a modification. Put another way, is one of these builds (or another) superior at level 12? (There might also be varying optimal builds during the interim levels)

Option 2 only nets you 2 ASI. You get that every 4 class levels.

Every 4 “class” levels? Not “character” levels?

If I go X class 3 levels + Y class 1 level, i will not get a feat?

You wont according to DnD 5e. I wont be surprised if Larian changed that to character levels.

Fighters get a Feat at lvl 6, which is the 2nd Feat for option 2 build.

This is big news for me, I was not aware.. And I planned to go x 3 / y 3 to get all those subclass goodies at level 6. Now it will be delayed by 1 level, x 4 / y 3, to get the feat. But rules are rules, I prefer Larian to stick to 5E.
