Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - General Find the shipment quest.

Now on my current play through on the "Find the shipment" almost all died except for 2 of the party members Tav and Shadowheart. Now I have this chest which I know nothing about and can't find out about it as the ones that are carrying it are also dead. I even tried to use the "Speak with dead" amulet and couldn't use it on any of those that were in that party.

Now this sucks because if I want to find out where to take the chest I would have to load an early save before those that were carrying the chest all died. Now Why didn't they add the ability to use speak with dead on the leader so that we could find out where the chest needed to go without having to load an earlier save or open the chest to complete the quest.

I'm pretty sure you can use speak with dead on Rugan, and maybe with the other guy that was with him too. Those two were the ones using fire to keep the gnolls from entering the cave, but if they died to fire or some other effects, their corpses are too damaged and you won't be able to speak with them.

In case it was you who killed them and now they refuse to speak with you, use the disguise self spell.

There is also a quest flagged note on one of the people in the caravan that got slaughtered by gnolls that mentions returning it. As long as you are thorough in exploring the towns, you will find the location where you can turn it in.

2. Don't open the chest
3. If you can't talk to Rugan then you are going to have a rough time of this quest. I am gonna be honest, letting Rugan die was a huge mistake (did you tell The Flind to go feast on the meat inside the cave or just attack them outright when they wouldn't give you the chest?)
4. I would go back to before the Gnoll fight and before you killed Rugan and replay that bit - as it's otherwise unlikely you will find the Zhentarim hideout , much less manage to get inside - unless I tell you where and how and even then you will need to pass a lot of rolls.

5. or you can say screw it - open the chest and throw the contents in the next hard fight you get into, or village, druid grove or shattered sanctum. Just make sure lots of people are around, it's a real Eye-opener what happens. Muahaha

BUT if you manage to get into the Zhentarim hideout AND return the chest unopened to the Zhents you get access to

And if you are REALLY EVIL-

AND you will be entrusted with the chest and be friends with the Zhents. So triple win!
