He might also be Orin. In community update 21 Larian specifically says the shapeshifter could be anywhere...even pretending to be someone else in your camp.

Although I must admit it would be a lot of fun to see Jergal and hear his takes on everything lol.
“Why’d you make 3 clearly deranged individuals gods?”
“Same reason I hang around you. Boredom.”

Anyway, would be interesting if Orin could be randomised every play through and could be shapeshifted into your love interest. A blow straight to the heart.
I think there's very large chance that BG3 is the ending of the story of the Dead Three...they're all back, all working together, and there's mind flayers involved. I think that odds are that their titles will either be vacant or taken up by other/s. So I think it would be very appropriate for Jergal to be there at the end of this story as he was there at the start. Unclear if he'll try to take back his titles or if he'd be there just for fun or if he's still in service to the dead three. He did say at the start that he'd serve as their steward. My guess is he's on his own now wherever he might be.

It would be rather weird to make a big song and dance about bringing Bhaal and Myrkul back just to kill them again IMO. Still, I fully expect this to be the case in BGIII. Why else all this convenient stuff about 'Well, they are technically mortal 'quasi-divine beings and not full gods, even Bane, for some reason'. Larian/WoTC setting them up to be killed is a real possibility.

Hes not that bad if you wake him up from his crypt first.

While I like the scene in the crypt, I hope they change a bit what he does after it and how we interact with him. You meet this apparently very powerful undead guy, he helps himself to your camp, offers to help you but refuses to elaborate why, and just stays there doing nothing in case you need his services. Same goes for the oathbreaker knight, I think it'd be more appropriate if instead they gave you an item you could use to summon them whenever you require their services. Having these 2 powerful beings just idling away the hours at your camp sounds a bit ridiculous when you think about it.
Look fam if I had just been impregnated with a brain tadpole a sentient undead camp follower who seems harmless would be the least of my concerns.
