It doesn't make much sense that he's gaining power/levels again especially if mystra is ignoring him.

his connection to the weave .
I'm... not sure how that would work, but I guess it's magic so it can work in any way the DM wants to laugh

I mean, I know Mystra is a god so could possibly do a lot of things, but severing someone completely from the Weave? Did this happen before? Is it even possible? From my understanding the Weave is one of the fabrics of the world, anyone with enough talent or knowledge can access it and make use of it, like any other element out there.
Mystra essentially is the Weave shes the lore reason for the wizards gameplay limitations. Elminster was even gender bent into a women for a time to increase his connection to magic.

If she cuts you off you can't cast spells the normal way.

If you can manage to tap into the Shadow Weave or perhaps siphon magical artifacts though...
Oooh. Thank you for clearing that up.

If that's the case his story got a lot of darker, we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Taking that into consideration I think he could work as a sorcerer or even warlock (his patron grating him magic in exchange for artifacts?)... if not for his dialogue where he clearly calls himself a wizard. I think he is the only origin character whos class is so tied to his story.
