So now we're just speculating?

You:''Every creator I saw that played at Belgium said it ran fine...Fextralife got like 18 hours in and well into act two. And said the worst he had was a mild bit of fps loss once.''

That's the part you decided to ignore.

You shouldn't feel like you didn't accomplish your goals. Perhaps you did influence BG3 to stay closer to D&D, we just don't know.

Farewell. I think there are several changes which were achieved by constructive critisism in which you participated to a high degree over the years of the EA. It's sad that the game in it's current state seemingly does not please you enough. As there is no perfect game, it's all about accessing what flaw is decisive to skip or can be accepted, and that's personal taste. I skipped a huge number of highly praised games because some aspects did not please me. For BG3 f.e. the new tadpole system annoys me, but surely not enough to avoid the game. Will you only stay away from the forums but try the game or do you totally leave BG3?

You'll be missed, Niara. I've really appreciated your insight and passion for D&D over the years and I'm obviously far from alone.

I'm sorry that the game isn't what you wanted, but as others have said you shouldn't think your input was wasted. That it has helped make a better game for others, but not one you yourself yet feel ready to enjoy, must be a bit of a bitter pill to swallow, but hopefully it will give you some consolation in the longer run. And I still live in hope that once you've had chance to grieve for the game you thought and hoped it might be, you'll be able to return to it at some point and enjoy it for the game it is.

I do hope we'll see you here again one day, but in the meantime all the best and thank you again.

(PS: I shouldn't really need to say this, but apparently I do: anyone who doesn't know Niara or who wants to debate the merits of the game or the EA process rather than bid her all the best really should just give this thread a swerve.)

Thanks for all the hard work, Niara.

I don't know how much influence you had on BG3, but you definitely left them with feedback that would have improved the game - that's all one could do and its up to them to hear it or not. In any case your posts were on such a level that they always raised the quality of a conversation.

You will be missed Niara. I always enjoyed your very unique perspectives, and lived for your panel from hell writeups.

One thing, even if the time for change is long past, I think it's always worthwhile sharing your feelings on things, even if they are against the grain, or negative. Sometimes it's a healthy thing, to get some alternate viewpoints on topics. That said, YOUR mental health is more important than the forum health, and I want you to do what is right for you.

I'll miss you!

Bittersweet thread. I'm sorry we won't get a new post from you, Niara, a feeling only slightly mitigated by the list of great posts you've contributed to the forum : We were lucky to have you around in the first place. (The Shove and Throw feedback post is hilarious). I wish you all the best, and you can rest assured I really mean well, this time ^^

Larian, please make accessibility a priority for upcoming patches.

I personally will miss your posts very much, @Niara, and am very sad to see you leave this forum. I feel very strongly this forum will be the worse for it, but I understand your feelings. I hope I will run into you in some other RPG developer's forum.

It's unfortunate that you have a feeling of failure, because it's clear that literally everybody feels you succeeded in providing richer, more detailed feedback than any of the rest of us.

My fingers are crossed that what we see in the release version shows at least *some* points taken to heart. Hopefully after you play, you'll want to come back here to crow a little about bits of your feedback that are apparent smile

Happy travels

I am sad to hear you leave - I am contemplating it myself, but I will most likely stick around to do a post-mortem - not that I expect many to care, when I repeat myself for the x time.

I always appreciated your posts - on many occasion you were able to put words to things I couldn’t quite properly express. I hope to run into you in the future.

I'm sad to read that you're leaving Niara. Your posts were well articulated and well written. I will miss your words.

Many forums have a section or megathread for newcomers to say hi and introduce themselves when they join. Some forums also have a similar section or megathread for old timers to say goodbye when they move on. Maybe the opening post could become the seed of such a megathread ?

If so, I suppose that those who stay behind could write a little epitaph for the departed one. I briefly thought about Scratch For Companion, but I feel Niara's efforts were mostly directed toward making Halflings better (not that this was the only great in-depth analysis she provided, but it's what comes to my mind first). So ...
G.I.P
Niara
Care And Attention For Halflings Please.

G.I.P. stands for Go In Peace, or Game In Peace. Whichever you prefer.
