Content creators seem to have finally catch on the existence of BG3. Asmongold already streamed the early access when it released, but now we are getting closer to the release date and I am seeing a big resurgence in the game popularity. Things like the Panel from Hell and various news who underline the game gigantic ambitions are making people aware of the game existence, and that is a good thing!

I don't think he will, he may try it like he did with the EA but he doesn't know how 5e or the game works and my guess is he'll get bored sooner rather than later and drop it. That being said, he playing the game a couple days is already a huge win in terms of marketing for Larian if it happens.

It's a realistic possibility.

Just like how WoW managed to shit the bed a few years back right before FFXIV Endwalker release, causing many content creators from that game to detour towards FFXIV, the recent Diablo 4 patch has managed to achieve the same effect within that community, and it looks like a big number of them have decided that BG3 is going to be the game that they should pivot to.

That Diablo 4 dev jumping into the conversation about how BG3's existence and dev cycle was an anomaly last week was something that did not escape the attention of the community on that side. So it's not surprising the Diablo community went and made a meme promoting BG3 like this right after those patch notes came out a couple days ago.

Moving the release date a month earlier was a genius move, even in ways that the Larian devs couldn't have anticipated.

I know it's a possibility and I agree, in fact I would bet whatever you want he's going to be done with the new season of D4 much earlier than August 3rd.
The only reason I'm going to play the season is to finish the battlepass in a few day while I'm waiting for BG3 and I don't expect that to take more than 3 or 4 days, if it does I'll probably unistall it until a very distant future.

I'd love that, but Asmongold is shy around new types of games like BG3 where he may look stupid - and BG3 is good at making people look stupid. He had some solid critiques of the game when it was in EA - especially around the UI - but I have no idea if Larian fixed any of that.

I hope he does come back to it.

It would be wise for someone from Larian to reach out to him and offer to train him up on the systems - we could make him a pro in a few days.
