Actually I would argue it's quite common. It's like a "don't show anymore" button, because certain people don't want to see certain things repeatedly. So the real problem is that you don't understand why I would be bothered by sth purely optional, and that is fine. But to know that though this seems pointless to you, it definitely is not pointless to many of us.

Mh, it kinda makes more sense now. It's something like "I already told you I want it like this, please stop asking me", which is fair but it's also used for situations where you receive a message constantly. That said, whether I could consider it pointless or not, I said that it wouldn't hurt anyone to have it in the game. I'm in favour for any option, whether I'd use it or not.
