There is system B ... that was never tested, nor even properly presented, nobody really knows what is hiding there except developers and few small leaks, so nobody except them really knows what to expect.
It absolutely was tested, just not by you.
If you think that Larian was required to "properly present" changes to us before they made it into the final game then it bears repeating:

Once we actually get a chance to play the game with the changes, it is useful to keep providing feedback.
As always Larian will weigh that feedback with sources internal and external and make changes as they deem best.
