Compared to the protagonist, she was already quite a bit older in BG2. So if it wasn't an issue back then, it shouldn't be one now? Half-elves live quite long after all.

Additionally, we now have maturity slider in chargen, so we could play a half-elf (or other race) that's looks just as old as her.
I understand from an "official lore" perspective, why she isn't romancable, and I'm fine with that logic (if that's the reasonsing). However, I feel she shouldn't have been set as non-romancable only for her age.

I believe I recall an interview that confirmed only two out of the four non-origin companions were romanceable, which would be Halsin and Minthara. I’m not 100% on that but I’m not currently expecting a Jaheira romance.
It’s fine by me if the BG3 Jaheira isn’t interested in a new romance for character or plot reasons, but I’d rather not see posts suggesting that age should be a barrier to romance, particularly when our own characters’ ages are flexible. And certainly the menopause has bugger all to do with anything (as a nearly 50 year old woman myself, you can be sure implying that being post-menopausal means someone shouldn’t be romanceable or desirable is going to get my goat!). And I personally know a few people in their 70s who have remarried: here on Earth people both retain and form new romantic relationships at all ages.
Right, off my soapbox.
"You may call it 'nonsense' if you like, but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"

I really, really hope the romances have matured a little since previous titles in the genre and aren't just a cut and dry 'pick-the-obvious-flirt-line-with-guaranteed-succes.' Alas, things like rejection and such arren't really in modern audience's vocabulary so I'm highly sceptical.
You know what I'd like? If Jaheira was possible to romance, but with an *incredible* low chance of succes. To the point where, the guides on Youtube tell you that it's not possible but then someone does it by accident.
As in; you'd first have to be perfect; human, half-elf or elf, pronouns set to He-Man. Then have to make very specific choices in various missions, even seemingly unrelated ones where she doesn't approve or disapprove, have her with you at *all times* and never let her get to 0hp [this was a prerequisite in the Origninal BG2, have her die once, it's over]. Have multiple Charisma and persuasion checks throughout your interaction with her... Then, when you meet Elminster - and you will - You can ask him what the deal is with Jaheira, and he just gives you a vague cryptic answer that no one on Youtube can decipher. But that just leads to some obscure treasure hunt for a gift or something, and then, after *all of that*, and only if *everything* matches - you just get a kiss or before the very, very end.
That would be something.
But it wouldn't matter, because folks would break the game open and sort through the data to figure this out.
Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

Sadly, I very much fear that Larian decided against letting us romance Jaheira. So we'll be able to romance a buff Elf in hairy bear form, but apparently not a mature Half-Elf woman ...

I would have loved to romance Jaheira, she has had an extraordinary life, and is just a lovely person and very attractive! As a nearing 50 year old male I have learned the value of having a good, intelligent partner at your side.
And guys, you know you will also age one day as well and you won't all look like George Clooney or Harrison Ford.

Eh, she was kind of bossy. There's a reason Khalid was afraid of his own shadow...

But it wouldn't matter, because folks would break the game open and sort through the data to figure this out. in theory I get your point, but the reality is it's a program. It's either going to be a very specific series of actions that lead to the same outcome, which if vague enough seems arbitrary and stupid, or worse, it's RNG. Either way it doesn't feel good. See the secret ending of pathfinder: wotr, some of it was intuitive, but other things there was no way you were going to figure out how to trigger something very specific.

Probably no... or do you really want to have a romance with an old woman? What if she turns into a bear? I think I read somewhere that two of the companions are [edit]not[/not] romanceable - I would bet on Minsc and Jaheira being those two.

Oooor Jaheira nd Minsc agree to a poly relationship but only if you romance someoneone else prior? And can we please finally leave the bear alone? At this rate it will be considered the youth word of the year
