I wanted stat rolling because 5e balances taking feats against boosting stats, and I would like to have room for feats.

However, it looks like there are stat booster items in the game, so it may actually be optimal to just take the feats anyway.

He basically started to attack my character. Telling everyone that I'm just a noob on this forum and a worthless addition to this forum.

Yeah, especially when you can respec your stats after you get ability raising item.

Actually, rolling can get you more faults since point buy has a much more lenient minimum while rolling you can get as low as 3. With point buy even your 'worst' stats will be meh not horrible.

Lol, I couldn't help but get the impression that we snuck that stat rolling question in. Like it wasn't supposed to be one of the questions on the approved list, but not everyone was on the same page.

Otherwise, I can't fathom why the obvious questions weren't being asked.

What do humans, half-elves, etc., get now with the change in racial stats?
Can we use the respec method to change the mercenaries' race?

The comment that dice rolling was not including in character creation was not a design choice, but rather they ran out of time kinda sorta blows my mind. It's been 4 years of development? A mod will likely add this in fairly quickly yet Sven couldn't fit it in for 4 years? Is he joker or is he just trolling us?

I do not want to dismiss the great effort of this game by all the people who worked on it- but that answer is trite.

I wonder about the dice rolling not being in for stats. Even I know that has to be an incredibly easy thing to add. Which makes me suspect it's not in for a reason outside of the one give, which was something about production or time?

The only reasons I can think of are:

1. Multiplayer issue. One player is walking around with all 18's while another used point buy?
2. New players might get stuck rolling dice or get really low, subpar stats and not realize how much that's going to hinder their play?

Whatever the real reason is we just have to accept that this was Larian's choice and the choice has been made. I really wanted stat rolling but I have accepted the fact that for some reason they didn't want to include it and that is now fine with me. I'm not going to use any mods, I will only play this game the way the developer designed it to be played.
