Thanks for this response.
In any case i want to clarify a few points.
First, i said 3-4 years, and yeah i should have probably go depper on that...
I meant or really wanted to say, 3-4 years from the moment development starts, up to Early Access, which can easily be another 3 years. And its not like if i say this, they will begin development tomorrow.
I Expect that they will support BG3 heavily at least for the next 3 years, then they will keep on support for at least what? 5-7 more years (but with a reduced team), so in 3 years from now, its not far fetched that they'd begin development that would last 3-4 years, and having Early Access on 7 years up from now. Its quite reasonable.
Yes, probably on a Divinity's Engine 5.0, thay they'd be developing while working on BG3 expansion or what not.
No one is saying, drop support from BG3 (i would be the first that would hate that), or anything.
And finally, I KNOW THAT PEOPLE KIND OF HATE MMO'S RIGHT NOW. But to be honest, They do not really hate MMO's or Live Service games, what they really hate is the monetization structures and stupid incentives that go on there.
If an Studios like Larian want to really make an MMO for the players, and to have fun, based on such an exiting universe as Baldur's Gate with the D&D universe to pull from. I really think they can nail it.
And it is extremely closed minded to say stuff like, they dont have expirience doing MMOs (no one did the first time, what kind of argument is that), Blizzard didnt have exp with wow, nor is Riot and they are making an MMO, Ashes of Creation is from Intrepid and they have even less expirience than Larian.
And finally, if by the end of things, you call it MMO, or whatever, what i want is persistence. Persistence on a living world shared. Because at the end i think it adds to the expirience.
You are welcome to hate the idea, but please come with counter arguments, not fallacys (like saying, no because they dont have exp, how did anyone get XP in the first play if not trying it out ?)
