This was a solidly good game, but....
After my warrior swiftly dispatched the Demon of Lies, the concluding cutscene was anticlimactic. With dozens of hours of good gameplay preceding it, the end deserved to be more arousing with a few words of denouement. And––as all games do––this one had its moments of irritation. My inventory would fight me when I tried to arrange things the way I wanted, and I did not need to be told time after time after time that I was carrying too much and I needed to drop something.
Yet so doggone much was good about it, I shall forget the game's quirks. I will probably buy and play Riftrunner if its quality matches that of Divine Divinity.

The hero taking the sword of lies and sticking it in his belly turning into Deamon of Lies? [In Diablo 1, at the end, the hero takes the crystal and by piercing his forehead with it, he becomes the deamon..] I'd say the conclusion is nice: there are 2 possible hyportheses about the ending: 1) Hero takes the loot 2) Hero takes the baby Inventory fight back? Do tell me. I didn't see any problems with it so I would like to know more details. And you were told that you're encumbred each time you tried to take something new. Pretty logic to me.

i know what you mean about the inventory, it fought with me too. but i noticed, if you put everything on the ground and picked it up in the order you wanted, they lined up nicely in the inventory. potions did, at least.

Well, what did you expect in the conclusion scene? The end scene was vague and left too many unanswered questions. Vagueness is often good, allowing the reader--I mean gamer--to experience mystery and use his imagination. But DD's end was too vague, as if the designers were too lazy to create a detailed denouement. What happened to the Lord of Chaos? What happened to the world? Will the world end because the Lord of Chaos is now in the baby? What happened to the wizard and the cat? What happened to Kroxy the orc? Was he able to re-build the village and establish a more civilized orc culture? We could have been given details about the elves-dwarves peace (presumably there was one). Who was the new ruler of the human "race"? Inventory fight back? Do tell me. I didn't see any problems with it so I would like to know more details. For example, when I went into the Wastelands I took the portable bed and a chest. In the chest I tried to keep together four items, each with +1 Identify. After identifying salvaged items, I returned the +1 items to the chest, which also contained other items. I tried to place my +1 Identify boots right above my +1 Identify shield, but the boots wouldn't cooperate. They would jump over to the right, among other items. And you were told that you're encumbred each time you tried to take something new. Pretty logic to me. No, it was logical to be told only one time. For example, again, I would be at my chest, arranging it and my hero's inventory before visiting Kroxy to buy and sell items. Every time I moved an item around in my inventory or transferred something from the chest to my inventory, I would get that voiceover telling me I needed to drop something. I didn't need to be told after the first time. After a half-dozen times, it got annoying.

Hey, come on! Leave us something for II to continue with, okay?

After all you migh get some of the answers in , it happens several years later. It is good to have a vague title for a game which will have sequels because if the ending answered to EVERY question you had, when the next game started, you'd think "what the hell, wasn't the story finished already"? A detailed denouement could have been presented without revealing anything meant to be revealed by Riftrunner. Some things were concluded by Divine Divinity, were they not? The ending could have had a narrator describing how the plague was halted, how the dwarves and elves made peace, how the duchy recovered from the orc invasion, how the Dark Forest was rid of monsters, how the merchants of Verdistas recovered, how the humans chose someone to replace the possessed Janus, and whether or not our hero's reputation was restored after his great sacrifice at the Council of Seven and his extermination of the Demon of Lies.
As was, the ending was flat. After days of vicarious adventuring, my only sense of accomplishment from the ending was that my hero had slain the Demon of Lies. I might have been rewarded with a sense of accomplishment for all that I'd done. To continue this adventure I might have been given some inspiration.

The ending could have had a narrator describing how the plague was halted Unlike many other games, the plague wasn't important. 3 People suffering, [sarcams] what a tradgedy![/sarcasm] how the dwarves and elves made peace Oh did they ;0)? how the duchy recovered from the orc invasion Well, that will be told in RR :0) how the Dark Forest was rid of monsters Wha?! How could it be rid of monsters? Trolls and bizarre fauna are still there! how the merchants of Verdistas recovered In my game they didn't recover, MWAHAHAHAH! how the humans chose someone to replace the possessed Janus Same thing: It will be told in RR. and whether or not our hero's reputation was restored after his great sacrifice at the Council of Seven and his extermination of the Demon of Lies Of course it was! After all only complete idiots, brainwashed by Janus's court believed those filthy lies! Ok, I see what you mean. You wanted something like Fallout's and Arcanum's endings: where at the end they sum your deeds. But both Fallout and Arcanum story ended where the player's adventure ended: I mean DD's story is far from being concluded. As was, the ending was flat. After days of vicarious adventuring, my only sense of accomplishment from the ending was that my hero had slain the Demon of Lies. I might have been rewarded with a sense of accomplishment for all that I'd done. To continue this adventure I might have been given some inspiration. Well, the merchants thanked you for help, didn't they? And you've seen [if you spoke to people] that they don't care about your reputation... Alright, as I said, I agree with you, still I don't think it is neccaissary. Have a nice day! :0)

i was under the impression the 'plague' was just poison....
and the duchy doesn't really need to recover from the orc invasion because the hero kills the entire orc army.

i agree with @solipso, with the ending. i was dissapointed to find out "almost nothing" the falling down of the statue besides zandalor was something i understand when i searched the forum, explaining it. the ending leaved to many questions behind. ok , i didn't wanted to have ALL the answers. but some would be nice.
i think the perfect ending would be a conversation with zandalor, and he would say (when you holding the baby), "damm i hope you were right !"

Well I think it's very good that the ending was that vague: I mean depending on the play style, the chraracter might've killed the baby instead of taking him.

but will we have a choise in the beginning of riftrunner? can we choose if we the hero killed the baby or not?
otherwise that information could have been givin at the end of
or a piece of that information
