Personally, I might wait to spend a lot of time with him until he gets modded. If you would be interested, would you want his voice changed and pitched up?
So.... theoretically, I'd probably install such a mod for one run, at least. But it would need to be really good. All the cutscenes adjusted, for one thing. Maybe tweaks to the voice, as you said. There would even need to be work with tags and changed dialogue lines. Just swapping one model for another wouldn't cut it for me.

Yeah he would have to levitate or something where there is touching involved. In other places, conviniently placed chairs, rocks, and pillars might do the trick.

Unless you REALLy know what you are doing this is what it would end up looking like:
All the companions are mocapped, which is probably while all are medium humanoids (ie human dimension). It looks like all the cinematics are designed around that. Maybe they've changed this for the release version?

OMG that is amazing
lol it is
It's almost worth giving Astarion disguise self and having him run around as a halfling the whole game to see him do this
Personally, the origin characters are already solidified in my mind. So I can't see myself wanting to change any of their races (or starting classes for that same reason).
I do understand the desire for more diversity with the companions, but I'd much rather a brand new companion was created.
