Curious I found this today, as I was just in a discussion on how playing high level dnd was... to hard for dm's to manage. Let alone video game developers.

Also I find this interesting the timing just a week before a Nautiloid is going to come flying through a monitor near you smile

Ooooh...interesting!

The plot thickens!

Look, the only thing that matters is that the people who voted for Planescape in that poll were right and those filthy goth wannabe vampires were wrong. /s :P

Love planescape, and I've been looking forward to this since it was announced last year; so happy they got Tony DiTerlizzi back as an artist. Also, it's literally the only book I planned on getting before the 2024 re-release (which I probably won't be buying, due to rising costs of physical books).

While Larian might want to make other games, I think it would be very weird for them to make a specialized DND Engine of the Divinity 4 engine and just... hit it and quit it. Maybe another WOTC property in the works, just one more for this engine?

A sequel/expansion that lets you head into Planescape or even Realmspace would be nice.

This is my thinking as well. If BG3 crushes it, which I fully expect it to, then I think the next step will be one of the other properties.

I mean WoTC must be able to provide them data on which of these are the most popular and would bring in the most players.

Won't be Planescape. I like the setting myself just fine, but it was never super popular. A BG4 set in the Reams would sell more than a technical sequel set in any other world all other things being considered equal.

I mean, you are not wrong. Planescape: Torment didn't sell that well despite being a cult classic and in my opinion the very best RPG up until BG3.

The systems aren't great, and its RTWP but the story and depth was incredible.

The nice way to say it is that it "wasn't as accessible because it was too high-concept".
