If you don't know how the game works then it will always be harder to enjoy playing it.; though I'll admit the game in its current state doesn't do a great job of explaining things.
For example if you are using a weapon you are not proficient with you will miss 10-20% more often.
If you are shooting up at a target above you you will miss 10-20% more often.
If you aren't using Bless on your party you will miss 10-20% more often.
If you aren't maxing the right main stat for your class you will miss 10-30% more often.
If your target is in the dark and you can't see in the dark you will miss 20-60% more often.
If you are using ranged attacks in melee you will miss 20-60% more often.
Combine some or all of these things and yes; you are going to find it very hard to hit enemies that are not trash mobs like goblins.
