Oh I was not aware that this type of character is a traditional thing in Baldur's Gate games, never played the previous ones. Kinda interesting to see since I always got the impression that the older BG games were serious and gritty as hell since most complaints on the forums here are that BG3 is a looney-toon version of the franchise

Well, there are some other amusing things. Lots of shout-outs in BG1, including one to a porn star (Peter North). Also, Ranger who leaves thinking to his Hamster (Minsc). BG2 has one NPC who tends to tell rather in(s)ane stories, like when he was a god (allegedly) and just stopped because of turnips.
Well, if you want some funny things, just google "Baldurs Gate Funny tvtropes" - if you dare visit that site.. ;-)
But yeah, the originals had their share of funny and silly things. The grittyness of the original is something I never felt myself, when I was playing it back in the day.
