Er....I am reading here the original games are regarded as gritty? By whom? It would not have occurred to me to describe them that way.
Yes, gritty for 10 years old maybe. Though while I agree with you, with how much BG1&2 leaves to imagination it is not inconceivable for someone to imagine events of BG2 as a more gritty experience (less so BG1 which has a very light tone).
