I feel like Coh's target audience is already going to buy this or at least they're more likely to buy it than not. So I'm not sure how much a minor influencer can influence random people to buy this.
Same goes with people like Wolfheart or any of them.
Love Cohh's streams and his Garry The Prophet role in Cyberpunk was incredibly well done, made me wish Garry became a recurring character that would act as an informant
Though Naaber... eh, not really too keen about the character itself. I wish they'd given Cohh a more serious role than just another crazy lunatic one, because he really can pull off acting and this one in particular gives me that Elder Scrolls Oblivion hyper-fan character vibes that just follows player around for the sole purpose of being annoyingly hyper excited about every single thing. I most likely will end up tossing him into the river just like the lady said

Well like others said before, that character has a long tradition.
Noober, who annoys you in BG1s Nashkel (when you go for that sweek, but random, Ankheg Plate). And half of his dialogue consits of "What about now?". And then Neeber, who I have msotly forgotten, who is in Tradesmeet when you go there in BG2 (iirc).
So.. not sure you could make a BG3 without adding him. After all, one of the first question Beamdog was asked when they revealed their plans for SoD was for a Noober-type character...
Oh I was not aware that this type of character is a traditional thing in Baldur's Gate games, never played the previous ones. Kinda interesting to see since I always got the impression that the older BG games were serious and gritty as hell since most complaints on the forums here are that BG3 is a looney-toon version of the franchise
So thanks for letting me know Fox of Embers, thought this was just a random lunatic character written out of nowhere

Well, there are some other amusing things. Lots of shout-outs in BG1, including one to a porn star (Peter North). Also, Ranger who leaves thinking to his Hamster (Minsc). BG2 has one NPC who tends to tell rather in(s)ane stories, like when he was a god (allegedly) and just stopped because of turnips.
Well, if you want some funny things, just google "Baldurs Gate Funny tvtropes" - if you dare visit that site.. ;-)
But yeah, the originals had their share of funny and silly things. The grittyness of the original is something I never felt myself, when I was playing it back in the day.

I think a lot of complaints about BG3 being too goofy are somewhat ill-founded, but to be clear, the humor in 1+2 is fundamentally different from humor in 3.
Remember the human (This is a forum for a video game):
Er....I am reading here the original games are regarded as gritty? By whom? It would not have occurred to me to describe them that way.
They are adequately serious for their themes, with enough funny interludes to make the world feel real. As opposed to the typical Larian game, which, oddly enough, tends to overdose on both the horrific and the whimsical. I see that tendency in BG3 as well and hope it'll not be too dominant in the full game.
With regard to that old NPC, of all of them I could've done without this one returning. I may be finally annoyed enough out of world to get rid of him permanently in world every time.

Yes, gritty for 10 years old maybe. Though while I agree with you, with how much BG1&2 leaves to imagination it is not inconceivable for someone to imagine events of BG2 as a more gritty experience (less so BG1 which has a very light tone).
Honestly big props to Amelia Tyler, our Bg3 Narrator. She seems to have a lot better range to convey horror and an overall much wider range of emotional responses to scenes than the previous narrator, who seemed to only do whimsical and occasionally sardonic. She is also a legitimately funny person.
