We're not getting rid of RAM quite yet but we ARE at the point where SSDs work alongside and largely compliment RAM in a lot of ways and the games industry specifically has gone all is on SSDs three years ago alongside the launch of the new generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

For perspective: The average 7200 RPM HDD has a read/write speed of 80-160MB/s vs the standard SSD that comes pre-installed in every PS5(which is now a nearly three year old console mind you): 7,100 MB/s read speed and 6,800MB/s write speed.
