wouldn't even be the same type of game anymore - MMOs generally have way weaker stories, you wouldn't have all of the reactivity.....all the (single/co-op) things that allow BG3 to have all of its permutations and multiple story elements wouldn't even exist. Nah - not a baldurs gate MMO...I get the excitement, but i think what you want already exists.....and the game that you're looking forward to...wouldn't/couldn't even be made as an MMO
Well, OP has apparently scarpered - I think I was right about them being Ray Muzyka the CEO of Bioware - trying to take down Larian again. /s
I agree with you btw, that an MMO applied to this system would be a weak mess and not needed.
I think what the Divinity 4.0 Baldur's Gate engine can currently do is more than sufficient to create even fairly large communities of hosted players - with a much higher quality of story and player interactions, just like Neverwinter Nights did back in the day.
I mean, you could easily re-use existing assets, you just have to scrape out all the Plot and many of the Event tags. We could have PvP arenas, various adventure jumping off points using the city and its environs, a reactive economy with shops, instanced or respawning dungeons, although you'd need to change resting to the NVN way of doing it - that wouldn't be that difficult - you could even limit that resting cycle to once per day.
There are so MANY possibilities with this engine, and I know there are mods that are thinking along these lines and I can't wait to see what they come up with and what larian adds to the system over time.
