Tactical Adventures sales and brand recognition are not even slightly close to Larian’s. WOTC would be better off buying their own studio and developing in house at that point for the level of “economical support” Tactical would need.

I am sorry for my ignorance, but who?

Also, WotC gave Larian the license because they had the economical support to actually do it. They did not really get support from them. Which is, in my opinion, the issue with a lot of official D&D games - WotC/Hasbro wants them to succeed, but is unwilling to really invest in their success.

Out of these options, Planescape, easily.

Unpopular opinion time: I am not a big fan of the Forgotten Realms. The setting is just a mash of vague fantasy "stuff" tossed into a blender with a sprinkling of overpowered Mary Sue heroes (coughcoughElminster) on top to upstage the PCs. It doesn't make much internal sense because it's constructed out of decades of writers pasting over each other, and manages to suffer from both being tied to the status quo and having cataclysmic setting changes as the march of game editions demands. I much prefer Golarion when it comes to kitchen-sink fantasy settings. Or even Greyhawk!

I think Larian's style lends itself to a deep dive into a relatively small geographic area. I voted for Ravenloft; I'd love to see Planescape or Spelljammer, but I think that could be left to another studio. My dream assignment for Larian would be Monte Cook's Ptolus. Everything happens in a single city with layers upon layers of intrigue. It's so good and I think Larian could really do it justice.
