"But to find that a game as ambitious as this one has an implementation of time and space worse than every other game of the genre I know – and my knowledge covers 30 years and more – that is a big disappointment to say the least "

Very much agree will all you said. I mentioned very similar stuff two years ago.
Big RPG immersion breaker for me.
They make fun games but I still dislike Larian style world building and maps.

Philosophy Is kind of like this...

Larian:

How we make our players behind their computers/TVs can have great fun in an RPG will all their friends!
Yooo cheers everyone!

Obsidian, Owlcat, Origins, BlackIsle, etc..:

How do we TRANSPORT our players into this world we created and make them immersed in this world.
"A toast, a toast, to friend and host
a toast to bonny brew!
We’ll lift a glass to seasons past
and adventures yet to do
We’ll toast each lass that we have met
and some we wish we knew…
and then at last we’ll stagger home…
and tomorrow start anew!"

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..
