TLDR: Most games don’t really make a lot of sense if you think too much about it. Maybe you are used to or prefer certain ways of doing things, but my advice is to try to put it out of your mind and enjoy it for what it is.
I'll certainly not forego playing the game because of this problem, but I did, in fact, start to play the game without being aware of it. Only after a time, I began to ask: "Why does it feel as if it's still the same day as when I climbed out of the crashed nautiloid?" "Why don't I feel anything travelling to the Underdark of all places?"
I also really miss weather. That's always great for immersion. I want to play a storm sorceress. How the heck will I be able to do that? She'll not feel at home in this world without thunderstorms.
