I have no idea which thread and which user asked, but someone wanted to know if you can skip the initial grove fight. I was bored and did some testing and it looks like: No, no you can not.
I tried a few different ways to sneak past and even fly past, but it seems like there is a huge swath of map that starts the scene. The attempt I was proudest of what getting my raven all the way up on the nearby cliffs, where there is no line of sight to the battle. Sadly even getting up there started the scene.
Has anyone been able to skip the grove, and I am just missing something?

IIRC a speedrunner was able to jump so far it didn’t trigger the fight.
Remember the human (This is a forum for a video game):

This was introduced with Content Update #8, but whether it's a bug or an intended change is unclear. It doesn't happen only at the Grove either, but in numerous other places as well where stealth is forcibly deactivating. When I reported it to Support months back, by the responses it did seem like a bug but we won't know for certain until the game releases in 5 days.

IIRC a speedrunner was able to jump so far it didn’t trigger the fight. If I'm remembering right, the devs actually watched a speed run with someone jumping over that scene. Afterwards--it may have even been the next patch--you could no longer jump over that cut scene. I haven't seen anyone get past it in a long time. Maybe it's worth trying, say, a sorcerer with a distanced misty step? I doubt it will work, but I haven't tried it personally, so I can't be sure.

What exactly is your goal here ... Do you want to just avoid the combat and continue runing towards end of EA, like some other Speedrunners ... Or do you want to find out what will happen if you dont help Groove against the attackers? If the latter is your goal ... i may have idea, not sure if it will be worth anything tho. Just run there and trigger the fight ... then run the other way ... and use "flee battle" button ... and then take a Long Rest. I dont know what will happen (possibly nothing) but its worth a shot.
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!

I ran away from the Battle of the Gate once. Sadly I no longer remember if I came back to check out things or not ...

I've sat around and watched before, the tieflings always won, though the humans didn't make it. I'm going to try again though maybe buff the goblins a bit before bailing.

Now I would watch a playthrough titled "BG3 but I flee every fights". I guess it would have some... interesting results.

Why can't the player choose the side of the goblins right at this moment?
I understand that this will bring down the whole game design, and the player will not see much content in the druid grove, BUT WHY CAN'T I CHOOSE.
Thanks to Larian for Baldurs Gate 3 and the reaction to player feedback

Bold of you to assume that goblins would want any group of stranger to side with them. Sounds like the perfect way to end like that dwarf roasting on a campfire in the abandoned village.

This feels similar to Diablo 4 players complaining that they can't join Lilith. Because it's not in the game. The "reactivity" buzzword aside, there are limits to everything.

To be fair, Lilith at least has some tempting arguments, and many npcs fall for it. The random bloodthirsty goblins not so much.

I might be wrong but I feel like if you skipped the battle the tieflings would win each time. Otherwise wouldn't the druids just close off the Grove if the goblins won? They should anyway.

K so I turned into a spider, jumped into the grove, lured the assassin into the fight, and opened the gate. With the assassin's help they took down Zevlor, but eventually were wiped out by the tieflings inside the camp. There are just too many.
Kagha was happy Zevlor was dead and asked me to deal with the rest. However there isn't another leader I could find to convince them to leave and attacking the tieflings agroed the druids.
It's almost like the game doesn't want the goblins to win...
Edit: Also the goblin archers are idiots and just shoot the open door rather than raiding the grove with everyone else.
