Hail, and well met, all.
So...
Are you going to create your first character, and run through the entire game/story with it before creating a new character and then play again with a new character?
Are you going to create one character, begin playing and respec whenever the mood strikes? <-- My Plan B.
Are you going to create multiple characters from the get go, and play them more or less equally throughout the game/story as your whims decide? <-- My Plan A.
Just curious.
Thanks.
Take care.

I'll run through the entire game as Tav guideless atleast once, going to try and avoid all social media on launch due to spoilers

I'll run through the entire game as Tav guideless atleast once, going to try and avoid all social media on launch due to spoilers This is why, though I've had EA for about 2 years, I've played only about an hour or so, (not counting puttering around in the character creator), and have only gotten to where you first meet Shadowheart... I don't want to spoil the game, adventure, and surprise.

First one. My initial playthroughs always have a lot of influence on my next runs (if any), I prefer it that way.

No, seriously, I will make the character, I like (halfling or gnome bard/feylock) and then see, what she decides to do. In other words, I don't plan too much in advance and see, where it leads me. I will play a lot of times, I suspect, so more characters are in teh pipeline. I might make my pen & paper characters (minus the gnome artificer, since that class is not in there) along the way.

I make my first Tav as per the 'what's your backstory' thread, and will make choices according to what Tav would do. I would do that without respeccing, and even reloading unless there's a bug or something. A TPK or other way of game over, is the end of Tav's story.
I will then play as Shadowheart and do the same. Then a Dark Urge and do the same. I haven't planned further than that, but I will more or less do that until I beat the game.
Note: I would definitely respec Shadowheart if she's converted to another faith - which is something I can really see happening. It makes way more sense if another Deity, another outlook would and should offer Different spells and abilities.
Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

First one hopefully but I have a bad habit of restarting games.

Personally, the closest for me would be option three.
I will probably make two characters (one nice, one evil) and then play either depending on my mood at the time I start the game. They will not be equal in playtime, since it is usually heavily depended on my mood if I can play evil or want to do good.
Also, I will probably also plagued by restarteritis - unfortunately, the respec is not helping me here. Since I tend to make rather similar characters who wildly differ in the path they go down, and we can't respec those.. >_<

My initial character will be my PnP High Elf Arcane Trickster from my backstory, and will probably see a good piece of my initial playthrough, before I create others.
Then it'll be a Bard/Warlock 9/3... a melee/caster hybrid with College of Swords and Pact of Blade.
I'll also roll up a Fighter/Champion because I do like straight forward melee Warrior types, (and Battle Master just doesn't "do it" for me), and another Bard, but this one College of Lore, and an 11/1 Bard/Sorc for Magical Secrets, a decent damage cantrip, and White Dragon for Armor of Agathys.
All will be playing at the same time as my whims decide. 😁

Doing a single player playthrough and a multiplayer simultaneously, though I'll probably finish the multiplayer one much much later.
May try and do a second playthrough after, depending on how appealing they make an evil run or if there's a lot of stuff I want to see from other perspectives.

BTW - my first playthrough will be a coop with my son. I'm still waiting for him to make up his mind on Evul! or Gud! plathrough and what his Tav will be ... [GRUMBLING NOISES IN OLD MAN]

Much will depend on when and which mods become available.
I still plan on a complete playthrough as a human, but that won't happen until a mod releases either variant human or brings back the old racials. Until then, I probably create tieflings (most likely as warlocks, maybe as rogues).
I definitely know that I won't play as any origin character.

I'm probably going to alternate between 2 characters. If I end up liking one playthrough more than the other I may focus on that one and leave the second for later, but considering how familiar act 1 is going to be (no matter the 30% or so of things that will be different, it's still going to be act 1 lol) I think I'll get at least at the end of that before I decide which one to carry on.

The first one. That said, I am thinking of creating a halfling bard - if he ends up being pushed/thrown to death too much I might end up rerolling - or modding the game.

I have a serious case of alt-itis in RPGs and my first playthrough is going to be multiplayer, so I expect to start at least 5 playthroughs and maybe finish 2.

My big plan is to play until I'm not having fun/tired/finished the game. Then I might do it again. If I get tired of how my character is performing, I might change that.

I have no strategy. I will start with the character I have envisioned, and I usually end the playthroughs I start before I start a new one, but if a compelling character concept occurs to me and the old one ceases to be enjoyable, I'll switch.
