I'll start a game with an origin character, Gale. That will be my main game.

Then, as I'm playing through my main game, I may start a couple of others, but they will always be far behind in the story/quests. One of those games will be a Dark Urge playthrough. Another will be a different origin character, though I'm not sure yet which one.

Eventually, I intend to play all of the origin characters all the way through.

Will not respec any character.

I have about 12 playthroughs I wanna do, will play them all out on after the other in the next 10+ years prolly :P. Kind of like I did with different Shepards etc in Mass Effect trilogy (I did 7-10 playthroughs I believe :O).

But BG3 has even more different characters/classes, and tons more permutations. So yeah this will be a game I will play again and again for years to come, I can already tell. Ive already played through most to all of EA 3 or 4 times :P And first third/fourth of it prolly 6-8 times :P.

Ranger for the first playthrough & then other characters I’ve enjoyed in d&d o ver the years - hopefully 5-6 full playthroughs with differing party composition to see different stories.
I can see thousands of hours in this game..

This is what I plan to do.
I've got about 5-7 characters in mind. I'll get them all off the ship and then just play whoever whenever I feel like it.

I've written up sixteen characters using personal character sheets: plan on just going through the list. But overall, after the time I've spent in EA, I really look forward to seeing the full game regardless what I play.

Also don't have plans on planning an origin character: may change my mind, but I didn't really enjoy origin characters that much in D:OS2. *shrug*

I have a character and build in mind and I plan to play through the whole game while trying to resist the temptation to look stuff up and read forums like this. laugh

I might respec if I realize some ability I picked sucks or whatever, but never to change the whole character concept.

I will definitely not succumb to restartitis. Last time I did that was with WOTR (I must've played the first chapter 10 fucking times before finishing the whole game once).

Yes, one character playthrough all the way to the end of the story before starting another. First run: Dark Urge Wood Elf Rogue Assassin though I might be inclined to switch to Drow if the subraces get some kind of bonus in the final game as in early access Drow subraces do nothing but add some conversation options. Planned party members: Shadowheart, Minthara, and Lae'zel.

No plans to ever respec or multiclass anyone in my party.

Definitely not starting a bunch of playthroughs at once.

First playthrough, I will try Dark urge. Need to balance the rush to get to BG asap..with the desire to take my time and take heaps of notes!

I will not respec since it will ruin the game imo.

The first playthrough will probably be the most fun since everything is new so I will choose carefully when creating my character. Whatever I'll play in a second playthrough will probably depend on what I encountered in my first playthrough, since I will then be better equipped to make a character who will fit into the universe in an interesting way. For instance not much fun in playing a druid if most of the action takes place in the city.

While I'm hoping that my PnP Arcane Trickster will be as enjoyable in BG3 as he is in my weekly D&D campaign, this is part of why I'm creating, and starting off with, multiple characters.

I too probably won't respec, but any given character, including my beloved AT, may not actually be as enjoyable in game as in my head... Meh, we'll see where things go. 🤷

Why do you need a plan B? You need a backup plan only if you think your main plan won't work.

I plan to make a character and play until I decide I want to play a different character, whenever that is.

That’s my plan, too.

My strategy is to play the full game as a single player when it comes out on Aug 3 and then play it again couch co-op on PS5 a month later with my gf and pretend I've never played it before. 🤫
