The 72 hour early access was always a bit meaningless on PC anyway, given everyone who bought the game before the launch date was to get free upgrade to Digital Deluxe. So when the launch date was 31 August, everyone who bought the game on PC before then would have got access to act 1 from 28 August or whenever they bought the game, whichever was later. So they may as well have announced a 28 August release date for act 1 for PC and have done with it. And from 31 August early access would have been moot anyway. It would have been even more meaningless once Larian had decided just to release the whole game early.

The three day early access for Digital Deluxe has been kept for PS5 where it actually makes sense, given there's no free EA upgrade.

"You may call it 'nonsense' if you like, but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"
