The savior complex/mentality that seems somewhat pervasive in gaming and other media seems to reinforce some unhealthy expectations.
I hold doors open for people because it is a nice thing to do. I certainly don't expect everyone to say thank you.
My ex was walking with our two kids and someone held the door for them, which was really nice. She was dealing with one of the kids at the time and hadn't had a chance to thank the man before he yelled about how no one understands how to be polite anymore and that she should have said thank you immediately.
It's like, chill my dude, you can't expect everyone to be thankful or respond exactly how you want them to in every situation. It's almost as bad as the people who pay for a date and expect sex as a reward.
For clarity, our queen, I am not saying anyone in this thread is doing any of these things. Just commenting in general.
