Hey all, new poll.

This is one is about how you will play BG3. What character will you build ? What story paths will you take ? How much challenge do you seek ? How many people will you play with ? All that stuff.

You can take the poll here : How will you play BG3 ? Your Player Character, your playthroughs, etc.

Again, I'll publish the results at some later point ... unless I have in fact found how to link to permanently-updated results, so that you can view the results at any time, without having to go through the poll again. Give me a couple of hours for this.

If you want to see the result of the previous poll, about what characters are popular, it's over there.

Update : link to results.

A couple of updates.

So, it seems that the link to results summary, which I can find in some options, is indeed the link to a permanently-updated results page that I hoped it was. I've updated the opening post with the link.

Also, I was just listening to a promotional video (around 2:50) on D&D's YouTube channel, about characters, with the character artists team leader. It said that Half-Elves became very popular after Bards were introduced. Well, they certainly are, both of them.

At the time of writing, in the poll, Half-Elves make up about 20% of characters' Races (behind the Elves with 25%), and Bards make up about 25% of single-Class characters.

I think it's not quite surprising. I think that, with BG3 rewarding players for having good Charisma skills in the party (by letting them have more influence in how things play out), and with conversations being more rewarding if initiated by/led with your PC, Charisma classes are a naturally good choice for the PC.

I'll also note that Paladin stand at 14% and Sorcerers at 12%, with Warlocks at 9%. Leaving aside Warlocks, and if you ignore Minthara who won't be recruited much on first playthroughs, the Bards, Sorcerers and Paladins also have in common the property of not being represented by the Companions we can recruit. Which makes an additional incentive to go for them.

In fact, if we look at the classes not represented by Companions (namely, Monk, Sorcerer, Bard), we see that they are all in the top 6. The usually unpopular Monks are 6th with currently 7% use, in single-Class builds.

I am in thought. Warrior or Wizard
I want to enjoy all the spells, but in battles, the warrior looks simpler and stronger

Thanks to Larian for Baldurs Gate 3 and the reaction to player feedback

Did the poll, +1 to your sorcerer stat 👍🏻 Speaking of which, I'd say it's a class that doesn't really need representation in companions since it's the same spellbook as wizard with a smaller selection and some gimmicks as far as casting is concerned. If you have Gale in the party you don't really miss a sorcerer.

I have very mixed feelings about this ...

Especialy the end ... in two topics:

1) When she is talking about each armor reflecting the fantasy of its class ... i mean ... i was reading complains about Wizard bath robes, Rogues and Rangers diffeing with only sleeves color, or in general all older classes being suited in completely generic stuff we find in every single npc and crate as if there was only one armor per type ... for last two and half year at least.
How is any of it reflecting a class?
Yes, i amit they did a good job with newer classes ... but does this just confirm Larian phylosophy as "mark as done and never even look that way ever again" ? :-/

2) When she is talking about looks of characters in general, especialy that part where she mentions that they have channels and they *do* listen to people complains.
I mean ... Elves are not Elven ... and Niara's Focused feedback: Halfling ... are two probably bigest topics about character looks, and while i admit that i have no way to tell if they actually listen ... i have serious doubt they do anything but that.
And listening only isnt exactly helpfull. :-/

Why there is no Drow in the Race section?

Drow is one of the Advanced Races, only unlocks if you finished the game on Hard Mode.

They are there, but as I explained in the text before the question, I included Drows in Elves. Because Drows are a Subrace of Elves, not a Race of their own.

I stopped playing EA around when druid released waiting for the game release.

Wizards are my favourite class, but I want CHA for the speech skills so I will play a sorcerer for my first playthrough.

But the thing I'm looking forward to the most is what bonuses you get from Wizard specializations, so I will still have Gale and the mercenary Wizard to pick 2 schools with, I will have to wait and see what the bonuses are tomorrow.

One of my favourite builds in BG2 was an anti caster sorc, Spell Thrust, Breach and all those spells, I'm not sure if that will work in BG3 yet, don't even know how much of a threat enemy casters will be, so maybe make Gale an Abjuration specialist for my first playthrough and see, and focus my sorc on damage and charms.

So I've been trying out the green dragon poison sorc and its rough as the chromatic orbs and rays of sickness hardly ever land even with 18 CHA, will keep going to see if it ever gets better and I haven't picked up the spider robe from underdark yet, if it still stays sucky at higher levels then just repec to fire.

Hi, this thread is specifically about the poll Drath Malorn created.

For feedback or discussions of how specific builds play in the game, I'd suggest creating a new thread in our new BG3 Builds subforum.

Done.

I'll just add here that, since the poll mentioned wanted features, I would have liked to be able to change appearance too seeing as they added a respec option. My reason, a bit of a peculiar one, is because I'd like to play 3-4 times through but don't want to repeat Act 1 anymore.

So my plan (when I thought you could change appearance) was to do everything in Act 1 up to the choice between Grove and Goblins, make a manual save and then remake my chars from that point. It would at least cut some of it out for the next playthroughs. I did the same thing for some of my 10 playthroughs in PWotR, where possible.

I can still do that mind you, it's just that I'll have to have the same appearance for my playthroughs and that's not as much fun.
