Yeah, it is a logical first move, if we assume that everyone watching is either a noob or a min-maxer.

Edit: Also, I think fextralife is one of those creators who would only benefit from reminding sometimes that making the hyper-optimized decisions is not the only way to play. This is my personal opinion.
