Whether it's time for doom and gloom or not, we can be pretty sure that we don't know the full details because of past outcry when Larian made changes to D&D rules.

The game has 3 constituencies: BG, D&D, and DOS. All three groups have had to make compromises and seems likely that MC rules will lean towards the DOS players.
