I would like the following new weapons.
* Saber - essentially a slashing version of a rapier, the look of the rapier doesnt vibe with a lot of characters, but is still the optimal weapon for their dex based build. So this is a nice alternative.
* Chain - a Finesse bludgeoning weapon, basically a bludgeoning shortsword
* Heavy Chain - a bludgeoning weapon with reach. like a halberd but bludgeoning
* Trident - Tridents should be on par with longswords. there are no 1d8/1d10 piercing weapons. Trident should be more than a more expensive spear that is mechanically identical.
* Whips - Would be nice
* Darts - would be nice
* Blowpipe - administer poisons and potions with greater accuracy? yes please.
* Flail - would be nice
* Sling - would be nice

I think before we get "new" weapons ... We should get "old" weapons ... Like Flails, Slings, Darts or Whips.
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!

Not a native English speaker, but isn't a scimitar a saber? At least when translated it to my language a scimitar is also a saber.

I think what the OP refers to is closer to the cavalry sabre at least in looks. The scimitar is a type of sabre historically used by the ottoman turks if I'm not mistaken.

A weapon I would like would be a hilt from which - once the user says the magical command - a 1m/3FT ray of light extends. Versatile but can be dual wielded and causes d10 Radiant Damage. Can be used as Torch to illuminate Dark Places. When equipped, user cannot use Stealth as it is both Shining and making a buzzing sound.

Evil characters use a red one and good characters use blue or green? Yes, while non-binary, confused or Deep characters use purple. Also, do they come with fitting outfits, like a tunic and brown cloak? Cloaks as well as capes are optional, but if equipped together with this weapon confer +1CHA.

Who can tell me what flails, whips, chains and slings all have in common?
No, not that, the thing that explains why they are not in BG3!

No, not that, the thing that explains why they are not in BG3! They can't be placed convincingly on the character's back They'd need to be animated to look good in combat (in addition to having the character's attack animations)

They all have independently moving parts. The weapons that are in the game have little or no animation.

I'm quite big on the sling, actually. Jaheira has used one for 25 years of sweet, swwt Baldur's Gating, and no she can't find one. NAd what about my halflings? Halflings without a sling are quarterlings.
Because, half halfings.
Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

good news everyone, flails made it into the game. I am not sure where I found it, but I guarantee it exists.

Are you sure it's not just a certain Mace that has "Flail" in its name?

Are you sure it's not just a certain Mace that has "Flail" in its name? Im sure, it was definitly a flail. It was called a flail, and it wasnt magical. Edit: I reloaded to double check, I saw it in the inventory of the Zhentarim trader in the goblin camp, and I bought it... and it looks great, and works great.
