I've been lurking for a long time on this forum, much longer than my account has existed, and I always enjoyed reading your perspective whenever you'd pop into a thread. Your posts were well thought out and constructive enough that even the inevitable dog-pilers couldn't really get you down.
I feel the same way as you on this matter, but I'm strongly hoping that the things I look forward to will make up for (or even better: exceed) the things that disappoint me. Hopefully it will be the same for you too, but if it doesn't pan out, at least know you won't be alone.
Maybe try looking at the positives of the game …there are very few perfect interpretations of d&d games and this game has so much to love about it. Many of the so called horrendous deviations from the rule set shouldn’t in reality ruin the game unless you allow yourself to make it a reality.
Treat it as the sandbox with its own particular set of d&d rules that it is and just enjoy it.
Checking out your thoughts in the various compendium feedback threads was probably like one half of my whole reason for kicking around this place hehe. If nothing else, it was fun to talk shop!
And who knows, maybe someday someone will get the Halflings sorted. I think the ennui set in for me like a year ago, so I know what you mean, but still, I enjoyed reading all your feedback!
All the best, truly! And hopefully we'll catch ya out there on the road sometime!
Out of all the regulars here you have been my favorite contributor who always back up your arguments with reasonable and logical statements, and even in heated discussions you adress people with respect and calmness. And sometimes some wonderfully sassy comebacks
I thank you soo much for all your input, ideas and opinions these years!
@Niara you were the best part of EA. When I finished your threads I thought to myself "that could have been a master's thesis" Your contributions were thoughtful, detailed and insightful. And you expressed yourself so very well!
I mean this next bit: I'll remember you as a significant internet personality. You sit in my memory next to Frozen Yakman (who could write a 500 word reply to a post in ~90 secs) Jesus's General (a notorious/hilarious troll who somehow got himself invited to speak at conservative conventions while claiming his screen name was his given name) and the much less famous Tilly who had a remarkable ability to turn the most hateful conversation into a productive one.
You might not have accomplished what you set out to accomplish but you certainly made an impression on me and some others. I hope you accept a permanent place in my memory as an accomplishment of sorts.
Thank you for all you gave, I hope I run into you again some day.
Even though I have been here since the day BG3 was announced I have lurked mostly, until recently. Until you return. Enjoy the game.

DRAGON FIRE-AND DOOM Dragons? Splendid things, lad-so long as ye look upon them only in tapestries, or in the masks worn at revels, or from about three realms off... Astragarl Hornwood, Mage of Elembar - Year of the Tusk
It's unfortunate that you have a feeling of failure, because it's clear that literally everybody feels you succeeded in providing richer, more detailed feedback than any of the rest of us.
My fingers are crossed that what we see in the release version shows at least *some* points taken to heart. Hopefully after you play, you'll want to come back here to crow a little about bits of your feedback that are apparent
Happy travels
Ditto to this. Hopefully when (if) you come back, probably for whatever project Larian tackles next, things will go better for you that time. Good luck, Niara.
Well, I'm fairly new since I've only been lurking here for just over a year and rarely say anything but I want to add my voice to all the others that say your contributions have been very much valued. Thanks for your time and input.
Enjoy the launch game and slight return with your final thoughts
It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..
Bye Niara ! Reading your threads and talking with you about BG3 was very interresting ! BG3 and this forum has been a huge part of my life during the last 3 years and so do you (and other regular users).
I hope we'll see you arround again ! And I hope you will enjoy BG3 even if our efforts have not always been rewarded !
Just now seen this, thought you just left like many others previously. I didn't participate with all your stuff but was part of some of it. Yeah, I don't know, I've had reply open for I don't know how long now.
Goodbye Niara, wish you the best in whatever you do.
I promised myself I'd check back in after a few days, to acknowledge anyone who wanted to say anything, and in truth... I'm overwhelmed. Thank you, each of you, for the kind words and the support... I'm genuinely moved by the response, and heartened greatly to read your messages. Thank you.
I am going to play the game, some time after launch, with friends and family and, as some of you suggested, yes, the hope is that I can enjoy it simply as a game and separate that from the other feelings I have. Fingers crossed; I'll do my best.
If I do drop back in again later, some time after launch when all has settled, to talk shop and discuss how things panned out, it will be because of the responses here, and this reaction, which I was truly not expecting. I feel more confident now in the way I phrased this message; I am simply stepping back for now, likely not leaving completely. Thank you all again, and maybe we'll chat again in the future.

Delighted to hear it. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on the final game.

I look forward to see you back here, until then, take care🙂

I totally feel the same, all of her posts were so well articulated.
I'm sorry you feel dissatisfied Niara. On a game like this, so big and trying to appeal to such a broad audience, I would have been surprised if even 1% of the total feedback would have been implemented. Unless you can speak directly with the team, such as for games of much smaller studios, I think these EA for massive projects like this are more of a bug-finding/performance analysis testing periods, more than suggestions-collecting ones.
Still, to my surprise, I think well more than that 1%, even if not enough to make it a "perfect" game, was taken into account by Larian and I'm pretty sure a lot of what was changed was also part of your constructive feedback.
Try to look at it from this perspective: even if this game will not reach the full potential you envision, it will nonetheless be a more than enjoyable game set in the Forgotten Realms, one that many people thought would have never been produced.
There are no perfect games, and this sure won't be the first, but even with all the complaints I may have I think we will still have a very good experience ahead of us. I don't know if it is going to be the new coming of the Lord as some people are writing online, but I'm pretty sure is going to be an exciting game to play.
And it is going to be so, thanks to your constant and constructive contribution too.
Feedback works for small indie projects which have no clear development roadmap besides what the developer feel like. Games like Rimworld.
For big budget title like BG3 what gets implemented gets decided very early based on market research what would appeal to the most customers possible. With that much money on the line and that many stakeholders unless it is a huge outcry no amount of feedback will make a difference.
Every creator I saw that played at Belgium said it ran fine...Fextralife got like 18 hours in and well into act two. And said the worst he had was a mild bit of fps loss once.

Who is Erica? Someone should tell Niara that her account may have been hacked by a real person.
Stepping back is a good thing every once in a while. Argyle has done so in the past.
I have also wondered whether anything on these forums has led to a game change. For comparison, the Bioware developer team was very active in their forums, and I know there were many exchanges which affected both BG I & II, and maybe some even extended into Dragon Age (like the Mad Hermit, eh?). The foundation of D&D has always been built on community contribution ... that's why so many people got mad at Gygax for hogging all the book rights.
Here on the Larian forums it sometimes feels more like a one-way mirror. We do have very good Moderators, and we get the news feeds, but there are very few instances of interactive discussions with the development or writing team members. So who really knows if anything here on the forums has inspired a story line, or changed a combat mechanism, or opened an adventure to the fabled City of Brass? Ah well, walk gladly in the Mists of the Unknowing, for it is a journey that never ends.
