I was just wondering what happens if I double up on skill proficiencies in BSG3. For example if I pick a bard and choose proficiency in slight of hand when I create my character but then pick the college of lore on level 3 which also gives me proficiency in slight of hand am I just losing a skill or does my expertise mean it is doubled? Am I losing a proficiency for essentially picking a proficiency that my character will acquire later?

Multiple sources of same Proficiency do not stack. There may be some effects that say "Gain proficiency in <skill>. If you are already proficient gain +x"

Rogues (lvl 1) and Bards (lvl 3) have a feature called "Expertise" where they can select a skill they are proficient in and double the proficiency bonus.
