Dear Larian, first of all, thank you for this amazing game, i really love it.
But can you please do something about the clown farmers on the Steam forum? - its getting out of hand. It's really tiring constantly to be bombarded with negative post about the game, from the same 3-4 people again and again just because they want to farm steam points.
I go to the forums to seek inspiration, help out or get new ideas, not to get told how bad the game that i enjoy is, every day by the same people in yet a new post they made. But its reaching a point where i, as a customer seriosly thinking about avoiding the forum, and i think thats a sad development, that the customers cant use the forum because its overrun by trolls.

Yeah, we have had this discussion before, and hey - I am 100% in agreement with you. The Steam forums don't take a hard enough line against Trolls and Bigots - and it's a subset of the user base that is less than 1%, but are unusually loud.
They get a short timeout - maybe - if they say a "no-no" word but they almost never get banned.
I think its a huge mistake to not demand better behavior from them.

You keep saying you're going to avoid the forums but then keep going back and then making these posts. At some point I have to wonder if you just like the drama. STOP GOING TO THE STEAM FORUMS. Report and move on.

I agree it looks quite bad on the steam discussion forum. I mean fine if this game isn't your cup of tea but the argument against the game are quite childish at best. Worst in on the GOG reviews, people who don't even own a verified copy of the game post "Woke" with a one star review. I mean at least play the game!

As long as Steam is giving an incentive for people to make controversial posts, this forum will stay a terrible mess. Gaining steam points for getting awards is the silliest "feature" I have seen on a forum.

Steam has some awful moderation policies that makes it more difficult to moderate, which doesn't help

If you want only pure positvity then is the forum for it. While some people are tools over there, it allows people to express theur opinion without beung shutdown simply for being negative unlike certain other places. Freedom of speech should be cherished.

Trolling and being racist, homophobic, and plain hateful thread isn't 'Freedom of Speech'. Add to the facts, they are breaking every Steam Rule, to begin with.

Trolling and being racist, homophobic, and plain hateful thread isn't 'Freedom of Speech'. Add to the facts, they are breaking every Steam Rule, to begin with. The trouble with that is the subjective nature of what those words actually mean. Some have a higher/lower bar of what breaks those thresholds. What is 'obviously hateful' to some is simply vulgar, mildly crude or somewhat offensive to others. The Steam forums have lots of nonsense but I prefer that to simply clamping down on everything that some may deem inappropriate because, let's face it, in this day and age that can be pretty much anything. Besides, you can usually tell the silly posts by their title, without any need to click on them, so I don't see where the problem is. I find it's easy to scroll on down to topics I'm interested in while ignoring the rest.

Honestly who cares. Not saying hate speech is a good thing but can we please move past this offended by words thing. Half of them are trolls just trying to get people angry and stir the pot.
Can we just ignore them lol
At this point the people constantly spreading hate to the people constantly offended by it are equally annoying.

You keep saying you're going to avoid the forums but then keep going back and then making these posts. At some point I have to wonder if you just like the drama. STOP GOING TO THE STEAM FORUMS. Report and move on. Im not sure how your logic went from me asking to get something done about the drama, to you saying that i thrive in it??

I'm not quite sure where Boblawblah was coming from, either. I see you had made a thread complaining about the Steam forums before, Halfling Rogue, but that seems to have been three years ago so while I'd generally discourage duplicate threads on the same topic, I think enough time has passed for that not to apply in this case. But regardless, let's just take a deep breath and move on.

I guess I'm wondering how many of these "omg Steam forums, please moderate them" do we have to have? We all get it, they're awful. And..what exactly? Every post goes the exact same way, there's no discussion to be had here on this topic, it's a Steam issue, unless larian wants to pay a full-timer to do it.

It's true we've had a number of complaints about Steam forums here lately, and I'd always encourage people to search to see if another relatively recent thread on the same topic already exists before creating a new one so we don't end up having pretty much the same discussion again. As admittedly we are here. Though given the forum search functionality can be a bit flaky, that doesn't always help, and the last threads I can find were from a couple of weeks ago so it doesn't seem fair to blame Halfling Rogue for this flurry.
Issues with duplicate threads aside, I do think it's valid to post here about experience using other community platforms such as Steam forums as the Larian community management team review threads here and it is feedback from players for them to consider. And while it is a topic that does tend to prompt strong opinions and uncomfortable conversations, that's not for me a reason to clamp down on it when it's relevant to people playing Larian games.
But as it is fair call that this is a duplicate and I'm trying to cut down on those now the forums are busier, I'll lock this thread. The older one [https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=868228&page=1]here[/url] remains open for people to add to if their point hasn't already been made.
