It seems the game ignores the "CharacterMoveBackward"/"CharacterMoveFoward"/etc., bindings when the active input scheme is not set to Gamepad so it's impossible to manually bind these to keyboard buttons. I may be wrong, but it seems like a small change to allow it to also work while in keyboard mode to enable WASD movement.
You actually can bind these to keyboard buttons, set the game to "gamepad only", and see it does indeed work. It just doesn't work in keyboard mode.
This actually [i]is[/i] possible in Divinity: Original Sin 1 & DOS1 EE, so it's a lost feature.
