I've only just arrived at the druid grove and Lae'zel's already eager to jump my bones, and believe me, that wasn't my intention. It only took her two inspirations and me letting her denegrate the "teeth-ling". I haven't even gone to the druids yet!

This is just way too quick, even for a horny goblin. And I'd assume Lae'zel would be the hardest nut to crack, romance-wise, so this breaks immersion even more than it would with someone else.

Not sure how easy it is for the others, but if it's at similar rates, perhaps it should be programmed in such a way that romance can only be triggered starting Act 2.

I don't know about it in this game. But there are games where the sex happens fairly quickly but that doesn't make it a romance. Maybe just a fling? Or one night stand.

Like Morrigan in Dragon Age Origins you could sleep with pretty early on.

Well, apparently she is not a hard nut to crack, but I don't really see it as romance. She respects you and has sex with you but she is still rude and unpleasant. I don't have the impression you are done after the sex. It's not the actual endpoint.

Her approval is still only fair so basically, she is using you for sex.

I was surprised too, it happend like right at the Druid grove and not at the camp party. Apparently my new Fighter is irresisteble.

Morrigan was way harder. There's no comparison. Increasing the approval rating took a lot longer to get them to a point where the romance-unlocking dialogues popped up. Even if you spammed her with presents. And then you still had to choose the proper dialogue to have her develop a romantic interest.

Unless my memory is failing now.

She will not be your girlfriend, but she will be your Lae.

I just remember being able to sleep with her the first or second time we camped. I might be mistaken but know it was pretty quick. Also just because we slept together she didn't think it was a relationship. More like a fling.

And I was able to sleep with her before giving her any presents. If I'm not mistaken the gifts or most of them anyway weren't included at launch.

Maybe I could be satisfied with pinning it on githyanki culture or something, that sex doesn't equal romance, if that's accurate, lorewise (I have no clue).

But even if it's due to her respecting your protagonist, the respect should build slower than that. She gives off the impression of having high standards and being high maintenance, so that just seems to go against her character.

I mean they lay eggs and then abandon their kids as eggs to survive on their own like sea turtles, attachments aren't really big in Githyanki culture,
I mean Vlaakith betrayed Gith aka the original Leader of the Githyanki for power and in order to secure a deal with Tiamat, the details are about it is vague but it's shady AF and it all points to Vlaakith being a traitor at least lorewise.

Your race/class probably plays a role in that too. I can imagine Lae'zel being attracted easily but not 'settling down' right away. I guess we're going to have to find out. I haven't played myself but I have been seeing a lot about NPC interactions/Romances in BG3.

Just had a banter between Gale and Lae'zel. She said she doesn't believe in love but believes in carnal pleasure.

It's sad that she looks like frog, otherwise I would let her do her thing.

With Laezel, it's too easy. But I got Minthara into the party, and it's already act three, I'm level 9, and the romance still hasn't started.

Perhaps it's because I went first to the githyanki and then to the Moonrise Tower? The approval of all other companions is very high, and Minthara is missing points simply because she joined later.

You probably missed her romance, then, it starts in Act 1.

To the main point of the thread: romance is not a minigame that you play until sex pops out. Don't assume that you've completed a romance just because you get a sex scene. Larian made it clear that they wanted to portray different attitudes towards sex and relationships with the companions. Lae'zel is very forward, but clearly does not love you. Clearly there is room for emotional development.

I got the night with Minthara in the first act;
Later, while she was out of the party, I slept with Laezel. Before accepting Minthara into the party, I told Laezel stop

Definitely seems like the specific problem with her is the romance doesn't continue, rather than not starting.

Minthara in general as a party member seems to have a number of conversation bugs or glitches in the current release.

Yes, she constantly yells "In the name of the Absolute" during fights even though she hates the Absolute

Why is the Emperor, the Mind Flayer trying to seduce and romance me, but not Minthara?

Is it possible there is a bug?

Don't misunderstand, on Steam I'm pretty sure most of the complaints are from Trolls.

But I personally haven't seen any of these 'Everyone wanna bed me'. And not because I turned them down, they just talk about their personal stuff. Nothing else.

Why nobody wanna jump my Tiefling? She is HOT DAMNIT! biggrin

I haven't seen it myself either.

Anyway if you think you're to turn into a mindflayer soon why not get a little action?

That's how I remember it as well. Unless you used the "cheat" DLC items with followers, your disposition with them would not get anywhere near high enough in the early-mid game to even attempt a romance dialog.

Not to mention romancing that character was an entire plot point leading into the expansion.
