Same here. I have the book and the amethyst. But I can't put them together. I don't recall any difficulty to do this in EA. I think that if you had the two, it presented a menu to combine them. But now, I can't find a way.
If you read the book, I think there was an option to insert the amethyst. At that point Astarion wants it if he's in your party. Can you do that?
