Yeah. Essentially

The tadpoles in your brain ALL wither and disappear. It doesn't matter if you had 1 or 99. This is caused by the last boss's death with no particular logical explanation. I mean, all mindflayers nearby were in excruciating pain, so maybe they were legitimately killed by the psyonic blast. That just doesn't explain why the withered husks in your skull don't kill you, or the sudden pressure difference. I guess being revived by a cleric after dying wasn't epic enough?

"The price for power" exists very much in various companion quests, but Larian killed the narrative of their own main story. This feels like a cowardly move. The one piece of good news is that you can fully redeem the dark urge. Free yourself of your shackles. You can also have a bad ending if you do good and play your cards wrong.

The difference in actions is somewhat arbitrary. Felt like an odd play on "learned helplessness", which like stockholm syndrome is heavily criticised in modern understanding. The result is a pseudo-intellectual flavour. I'm not sure it appeals to anyone. It's weird they went through on consequences with the dark urge and ONLY the dark urge who tried to be good.
