First, i'd like to make it clear that i have no problems with the game as a whole, it is a really good game.

Now then, onto the topic itself, the problem i have with the dragonborn's appearance and the why and how.

It is my opinion, that the dragonborn as depicted in the game are actually argonians from the elder scrolls. Don't take it the wrong way though, they don't look bad, however:

So, to start off, i want to talk about the why. Simple, the devs slapped a dragon head onto a human body and gave it scales. Now, that is how argonians are depicted in the vast majority of elder scrolls material, but why is this a problem? simple. Official dragonborn art depicts dragonborn with more draconic feet and hand shapes, as depicted here. The head shape doesn't matter to me personally, it is fine as it is. Now, here is the thing, the elder scrolls is a well estabilished franchise at this point, so everyone can recognise an argonian, so i was expecting a proper dragonborn to play and i was a little disappointed that they went the generic dragon/lizard human way. Now, don't get me wrong, i understand why they did it, it is easier to make armor if all they have to do is make it once since every race's body looks the same.

Now, for my suggestion and the how part. my solution is thus, add cusomization to the dragonborn feet and hands, the option to choose between the more draconic hands and feet as depicted in the official arts with hidden armor(equipped armor will not appear on them) and the current human hands and feet (equipped armor will appear on them). This allows those of us who want to play an authentic dragonborn to do so, and those who want to play with proper armor to also do so. And the devs won't have to make unique armor for the dragonborn.
If they separate character models the traditional way (feet/legs/hands/torso/head/etc) then this requires the devs to make 2 models( 1 hand 1 foot, and mirror them) with the necessary textures, a few lines of code to hide armor and a few lines of code to add the customization into the game. A simple solution with no drawbacks, since the hide armor code can also be used in-game for other races to add a toggle to armor pieces, more options is always better.

Now, the game was just released so i don't expect new customizations to be added so early after release, they need to fix bugs and issues players are having, but in a few months perhaps? maybe as part of a dlc?

Regardless, this is my suggestion, take it as you will.
