Larian crash reporter showed up. Just after UPDATE.

VERIFIED FILES SUCCESSFULLY BUT STILL CRASHED.

Anyone having this problem?

I was able to succesfully launch the game by bypassing the steam client.



Choosing one of the bg3 .exes worked(I used the dx11 one).

Okay, so if I don't have steam open I can launch the way you showed--you are a GODSEND, thank you! If Larian doesn't fix this TODAY, they can ******* refund me, this is absolute horse shit.

I'm glad to hear it worked for you, but yeah it was absolutely a pain.

Seriously, thank you for finding a workaround at least, until Larian can get their crap together. I was about to uninstall and wait 20 years for the game to reinstall (okay more like half the day but still).

Now is the regular bg3.exe the one that Vulkan uses? I relied heavily on Vulkan because DX11 has a lot of frame issues for me.

I think bg3.exe is vulkan.
I managed to reinstall the entire game before i stumbled on the fix on Larians FAQs >:(

Having problems on Geforce now too.

Game loads and then says 'game quit unexpectedly. Try again.

Yeah, I can't play. I'm using GeForce Now and have no idea what I should do.

EDIT: 10 minutes later, seems to work on GeForce Now though. Not shutting the game down until I go to sleep tonight though.

I feel like every time there is a hot fix it fucks up Geforce Now.

I also wish Geforce now wouldn't just automatically update the hot fixes but it seems we have no choice.

(I'm new to Geforce Now).

I checked their forums and everyones having this same error 0x8003001F.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

It will be the Vulkan version. Anyone having this problem should try creating a desktop shortcut from the exe they were using (i.e. Vulkan or DX11).

Just out of interest, does anyone know if this is happening with the GOG version?

So it’s now working with GeForce now again.

However I once AGAIN lost a few hours of gameplay. This keeps happening and I’m not sure why.

Something about the saves not syncing maybe?

I don’t know enough about steam and GeForce.

I never had this problem in early access on my Mac.


I had been exploring Rivington for a few hours last night now it’s starting me at Arfurs basement.


Sometimes (not everytime) when I start the game it says ‘unable to sync gameplay. May lose game progress’. Play anyways or cancel?

1. Not sure why it does this
2. When I hit cancel and then go into steam and hit play I didn’t lose anything. Except for today. One time I hit play anyways and that’s when I had to start the end of act 2 all over.


Can anyone help with this?

Same problem here. Worked perfectly before the Hotfix. Now i can't launch the game.
Turning Steam off and using the .exe worked but i can't play online.

I don't have GeForce Now... Steam up to date, nvidia drivers up to date.

You won't be able to use your deluxe edition DLC items either.

Thanks Larian, seriously. This is fucking crap.

I have the same problem.
The game crashes when the Steam client is running.
When the client Steam is turned off, it starts, but then there are gaps with deluxe content and also a black background with dots instead of the minimap.
The minimap and map are no longer shown in any location.

i was able to run the game now after run as admin for LariLauncher.exe do the same for bg3.exe and bg3_dx11.exe

anyone who are having issues can try that.

Try that. Tried effectively everything short of a full re-install and i dont think that would change anything

Edit: Got it working again
Deleted the latest hot fix.pak file and verified the files via steam which redownloaded the hot fix
Fixed the issues it seems. Apparently the Steam verify integrity of files thing overlooked the bad Hotfix installation so only really a hunch on deleting and reinstalling the latest hotfix was the fix short of a complete reinstall

Sadly this didn't work for me.
