This is really surprising after they made sneak attack a reaction, why not stunning strike?
It's supposed to be able to be applied on attacks exactly like sneak attacks yet it's just a normal ability like early access sneak attack.
You miss out on using it for opportunity attacks like this and can't apply it on your bonus action fist attacks, this is really disappointing.
