Honestly, I think Daisy works pretty well in the plot as-is, once you hit certain revelations near the start of Act 3. 'Who do you dream of at night?' works much better in that context than 'You need a guardian.'

The Wyll changes are really unfortunate. I didn't like him much in EA but it's like Larian rewrote him to remove his ambiguity and bring all of his 'big moments' forward (in EA, didn't he say Mizora was his human lover?) and there's just nothing to replace it with. The Guardian stuff I can ultimately take or leave, but the Wyll changes are bad. Especially tying him into Karlach -- just who is going to kill Karlach, one of the best characters, for Wyll? You don't even have to roll or anything to talk Wyll out of it.

Now, hold on!
I haven't finished the game yet, but....

There be a major spoiler here:
There's nothing not nice in there, Red Queen, just two lines about story content!

Your protector is not nice. Press him enough, and he'll go: "You'll do as I tell you, or I will make you. You're nothing but my pawn!"

Again, I haven't finished it yet, so I don't know all the consequences. As far as I can tell, there is four major powers to side with in the end; but as it stands now, for me - he's not it.

Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

It feels like they made Gale's magic-eating thing almost pointless. You can just give him the three worst ones you find, and there's no chance of him
signing a deal with Raphael.
Can that even still happen? I almost wish I hadn't played EA because it feels like that version of the game was a bit bigger on actual organic consequences.

They even removed the stat penalty from letting Volo root around in your eye socket and botch it so badly you lose an eye. Yeah, no wonder people are upset about Karlach getting the short end of the stick when everyone else can basically escape without consequence.

Having played more of it it does feel like many of the changes Larian introduced to appease loud twitter "fans" feel like downgrades.

The changes to Shadowhearts personality to make her "more waifu", Daisy being a lot less sketchy, the way tadpoles are handled, ect.

Yeah, I think the throughline connecting the various changes was deciding that with a long game that people probably wouldn't replay more than once, that it was better to shoot for an 8/10 crowdpleaser rather than maybe a 9/10 that'd leave people with some ambiguous feelings. It's a shame because I genuinely don't think it would have impacted, say, profits or reception but it definitely might've led to people being upset that they were experiencing bad consequences (look at how people are grumbling that Lae'zel can take a stat penalty in the creche) or a storyline that might've been more cohesively melancholic (Karlach.)

I like the guardian. The original it was obvious it was a mind flyer ploy, if I had not played ea I would have been inclined to give the guardian far more trust, it was a good change.

Nag. Guardian was completely untrustworthy. Dudnt buy its nonsense fir a second. It literally told you to stick illithid worms in while saying,"Trust me, bro." Lmao I dudnt really play EA, but the Guardian is trash and beyond obvious.
