I did a game and did a lot of experimenting using a save to reset. I found out a lot with what works in wild shape.. and the most of what would work in wild shape in D&D that doesn't in BG3. like example going a lvl of war cleric doesn't in BG3 let you apply divine favor, nor does it let you get a bonus attack with your natural weapons, also smites don't work in wild shape. What I did notice is that in wild shape in BG3 what your wearing effects what works in wild shape, like if your dual wielding a weapon and have dual wielder feat it gives you the +1 bonus AC and it effects your damage in wild shape, basically works kinda like a multiattack. Also defensive fighting style works in wild shape, but only if you have armor on when you wild shape, likewise unarmored defense works in wild shape, but only if you would qualify for it out of wild shape. Also if you take a lvl of fiend warlock you get the temp HP when you kill something like you would out of wild shape. I went moon druid for first character for two reasons .... one i can do the barbarian idea with karlach that i had planned for my character , and 2 i was curious what wild shapes are available. so far party is lvl 5 and my character went druid for first lvl , and took 1 lvl of monk for unarmored defense. i went that over barbarian because rage doesn't work in wild shape in BG3 from what I can tell, and because you obtain a higher AC if you build up your wisdom. only going to be able to get 2 feats with going total 10 lvls druid/ 1 lvl monk/1 lvl warlock( still considering if i still want to go fiend warlock for the other 1 lvl dip.) I figure at lvl 10 i will still get elemental wild shape.
I did modify Shadowheart ( which whom i am romancing ) And she is going 8 lvls light cleric( always hated trickster sub...sorry Larian) / 4 lvls storm sorcerer for the metamagics twinned ,distance, and extended spell. In D&D i would have gotten quicken spell, but Larian made it cost 3 sorcery points. Instead i got extended spell. What is fun is I can call out both a spiritual weapon and a flaming sphere at the same time and then attack with cantrips twinned to save spell slots for healing or when i need a fireball. Feats I am planning on giving her elemental adept ( fire), spell sniper(get eldritch blast), and resilience (Wisdom)( took 1st lvl as sorcerer for the con saves.) depending on if 5th lvl cleric spells are worth it may also go 9 lvls cleric /3 lvls sorcerer.... but i know i want at least 8 lvls cleric for potent spellcasting, because twinned cantrips with potent spellcasting sounds fun. If the cap was to lvl 14 I would have done a build with 8 lvls cleric 6 lvls evocation wizard to get both potent cantrip and potent spellcasting. My only regret is they don't have Toll the Dead cantrip in BG3, because that would be putting out a ton more damage then a eldritch blast build with twinned Toll the Dead. but for now thinking of twinned firebolt , or if they have immunity to fire twinned chill touch( bone chill cantrip.) Against 2 foes total damage of Twinned fire bolts is more damage then eldritch blast with Agonizing blast. with eldritch blast that is a maximum of 3 beams of 10 damage each doing a total of 30 Damage + a 20 charisma mod of +5 x3=15..... with firebolt it is maximum damage of 30 damage per firebolt + a 20 wisdom with a +5 Mod x2= 70 damage total or 35 damage per target. less projectiles also means less chance to miss and reduce he total damage.
