She's very explicitly mind controlled when you meet her in act 1/EA Then the story she has, when she's your companion, is recovering and seeking vengeance over the trauma of having been mind controlled. It's a good and appropriate story for her character. By getting her you're not chasing a 'spicy drow romance', but a well written and powerful, drow companion. Just sadly one without quests and the layers of content the other companions get.
Minthara is the best character and she NEEDS to be recruitable if you side with the grove! Also- I support the important thread in the suggestions: Let everyone in the Party Speak
