Good day! I'm working my way through the tutorial and have reached the area where Shadowheart is in her "cell." From there, I've entered the area just east, but can't seem to loot the thrall that was supposed to have an Eldritch Rune. This is quite likely a problem on my end, as I haven't been able to loot a number of bodies that I've encountered on the way here. When I go loot any of these bodies, I hear the sound, but nothing opens up. Further, when I right click a body and select the loot option, again, nothing will open. So is this a problem that is occuring on my end? Or is this happening because the bodies don't actually have any loot upon them?

Edit: To be more clear with my looting questions: Should a body that I can target and use the loot option for open the loot window? Or will bodies that are holding nothing not open the loot window? The thrall in this instance supposedly carried an Eldritch Rune and an Emerald Ring. So I'm left wondering if I'm having problems on my end or if things have changed so that Shadowheart cannot be freed during the tutorial.

110 views and not one person is familiar with the Eldritch Rune? Does this item still exist? Deleted that initial campaign, but I can't seem to get the loot window to open properly here. Is it still possible to free Shadowheart during the tutorial? Should I wait a year or however long it might Larian to polish this one up and resolve some of the outstanding bugs? Or has this item been removed and Shadowheart can't be freed in this way now? I'll just move on if the item has been removed and things have changed, but I need confirmation either way, please.

The possibilities to free Shadowheart are the same as in EA. The fact that you can't loot bodies seems to be the problem, as you have already recognized correctly.

Are you trying to loot the correct corpse?

Incorrect.

The one by the door has the key to the locked chest, the one at the back of the room has the rune.

My mistake, I somehow confused the two corpses. I rarely get the rune as I play mostly barbarians or warlocks

I have also had this issue. In m 1st playthru the rune did not appear.. I reloaded to a previous save and could get it. I am now starting a new game but even after multiple reloads I can not get either the key nor the rune.

It seems to be a game breaking bug sort of, because even when you decide NOT to save Shadowheart at this point of the game you will be missing out all the loot.

I really hope they solve it fast as I am keen to play the game and only have time right now. That's why I bought it.

Me again! I uninstalled and re-installed the game AND started a new game (I had to), and now at least the looting works! Of course I am just on my way to free Shadowheart starting from zero, but all I can say is that now the game seems to work normally.

Sorry to say so - the scene is still bugged. SHIT!

okay ... this is a weird bug, i know you unintalled/reinstalled and validated... are you in SP? co-op? maybe some more details so we can figure out why you have this one?

Thanks for your quick response! I am doing a simple one-player-run. I don't think I did anything special in the playthrough so far. And - as I said - afte the re-installment the looting finally worked, up to the point where you should be able to free Shadowheart.

I don't know how to gather and provide more information on the problem.

what class is your character? we could possible skip this issue if you're a say a barbie.
also, how are you playing? keyboard and mouse or controller only?

just to make sure we're clear, the room connected, where the freaky walking brain keeps walking in and out of and the woman is imprisoned in the middle:

you checked the corpse right after you entered that room and picked up the key?
you checked the corpse at the far end of the room and that's the one you couldn't find the rune on?

sorry to go over it again, but you have something unique going on here, and it should have been corrected with a full fresh install if it's a bug.

I built a ROGUE and I am playing with a keyboard. Mostly I use left clicks and right clicks.

I checked the corpse right after I entered the room, but did not get any loot (nothing!), same with the corpseat the far end of the room - instead it gives a short sound (like a click) and the looting symbol changes from golden to silver/grey. In theory I did everything you can do, I read various walkthroughs in order to get this done and I don't think I got it wrong gameplay-wise.

I would not mind trying another character if you say it is worth a try. AND I am starting to uninstall and re-install again right now, but I won't have time to play / check it out tomorrow.

One more information - the installation takes about 3-4 hours and due to the games size there are only some 16 GB left free on my harddrive, my PC is about four years old. Actually the game could flow a bit smoother but in general the game is very enjoyable and is fun the way the mechanics work although I might be happier with a newer PC with more power. Apart from the problem we are handling here the game works pretty well.

EDIT - deleted, re-installing. On Sunday I am going to start a new run with some other class, a fighter. I would prefer to play as a thief though, I am curious about the stealing stuff. But before I do a real go the game needs to work, of course. To be safe I am going to use one of the preset characters.

EDIT II - if all dead bodies in the game are lootable there is definitely something wrong with my download, as I can loot chests, but almost never find anything on the bodies, e.g. those from the first fight - nothing on them. Maybe that's the real issue?

hmm is this through steam?

i hate to say it, your system might be the issue.
what's your GPU and RAM?
are you using a HD? SSD? how big is it?
can you clear out the drive to make more space?
16Gb really isn't enough for most games like this to function properly when running.
do you have anything besides steam or GoG running? have you installed any mods?
is it installed on a main drive or another?

Yes, I bought the game via steam.

CPU 160 GHz, RAM 8,00 GB. I am using HDR.

The game is installed on the main drive - if it helps I could install it on an external drive.

I cleared the harddrive, it has around 41 GB free space now.

While playing nothing else is active, I have no mods installed, just the game.

i wouldn't recommend an external, they can work really well for some games, i'm not sure about this one. it really looks like you're running min req or less. what is your gpu(graphics card)?
it's this kind of information i'm looking for, to see where you are, because these are the very min req for it to run.

My PC has a Intel UHD Graphics 620, I don't understand the info provided on the internet, saying "up to 32 GB", which does not give the exact data. Sorry, I don't know how tolook it up.

it's a laptop? from your description and running a graphics card rated for.. casual games... i hate to say. are you running bare bones min for graphics in the game? that's about the only thing i can recommend. basically it's a 2016 onboard GPU for a laptop meant more for bare basics, unfortunately this game has a lot of reqs well beyond what your whole system can really do.
