Hello together,
I have a problem with Gale.
He needs an extreme amount of magic equipment for his illness.
However, I can't keep up with the search for magical stuff because he needs more and more of it and Act 1 takes a relatively long time.
I don't want to give him my good weapons and armor, rings, etc.
I wonder how to do the Gale quest if I can't find enough magical stuff for him.
I would love to kick him out of the group because I don't want to do this crap anymore.
How did you solve this? I can't get any further.

Act 1 had so many magic items added that its hardly an inconvenience. Unless you are a bard. If not you can just feed him all the bard items you can get and be done with it.

Hi, I've moved this thread to Help, Tips & Tricks where it seems to fit better.

Also, popping reply in spoiler tags, though I don't think it's all that spoilery ...

I believe you can refuse to help him, or just not give him stuff if you don't want to. He'll probably get sniffy, but if you'd rather keep your magic items, many of which aren't all that useful to many classes and don't fetch all that much gold, than help him then presumably you're okay with that!

But he also shouldn't need all that much, and especially in the full release as he can consume almost any magic item it shouldn't be hard to find things you don't really need. In my playthrough, I think it was after three items he said they weren't helping any more. How many items have you given him, and are you getting the message that they're no longer stabilising his condition?

Memories from early access:

1. Gale will eventually leave if you keep denying him magical artifacts.
2. Some artifacts buy you more time than others. If you give Gale a powerful item to eat, he might be sated enough to finish Act I without asking for more.
3. Killing Gale won’t solve your problem.

I can hardly find any usable magic stuff for Gale. Most things are not useful for him.
It has to be there with the item: Gale can use this item. Or something like that.
What do you mean by bard items?

Once Gale has said he needs items, then it should say on their tooltips that he can consume them. There are genuinely loads of them: I think any named magical item will do. Perhaps you can share some examples of named magical items you want to keep that he won't consume, given it sounds as though you might have a bug.

The bard items are items that are most useful for bards given they help with inspiration. Eg there's one in a locked chest near Alfira in the druid grove.

EDIT: I just reloaded my earlier save from when Gale first asked me for items, which shows some of the many items I already had that he'd take, and you can see down at the bottom of the tooltip where it should say that he can consume the item. If you're not getting any of this, then perhaps you have a bug.

I'm a bit confused - there are tons of magical items you get for free in EA - go to the abandoned village, there you find some, you can give him.

Plus
he only asked for three items in total in my playthrough after that he said, it doesn't work anymore and he has to look for another solution

Maybe your game is bugged. Try veryfying game properties maybe

In my game, there are only a few magic items that he can utilize.
I have found many magic items or the merchants have a lot to sell, but only a few are usable.
Most items lack the indication that the item is usable by Gale.
Simply putting the items into his inventory doesn't work, you can only do that via the conversation option.

So is, for example, the Cap of Curing usable by Gale in your playthrough as per the screenshot I've added above? That's the item (I think!) you can find in the chest by Alfira in the druid grove.

Yes I gave him this object.
In the meantime, he has received 3 magic items from me.
Have only items that I can not give because they are too good and need them for my group.
Most magic items are missing this hint see screenshot link.

If you've already given him three items, is he definitely asking for more? The dialogue option to try to give him items remains even when he doesn't actively want one.

Like fylimar, he only wanted three items in total in my playthrough, though as per a post earlier it might make a difference how strong they are.

If you have any named magical items that Gale won't consume, then I can perhaps check to see if that's the same in my playthrough assuming I found them.

Or you can just submit your save file to Larian support with a bug report if you have magical items, Gale wants items, but he won't consume the items you have. They might be able to help confirm whether your game has a defect or is behaving as intended.

Thanks for all the tips.
So far he has only asked for 3 items. I do not know if he needs more.
If he doesn't need a 4th or 5th item to recycle then my problem is solved.
Otherwise the option with the Larian support is also a possibility.

Yep, 3 is all he asks for. There will be an obvious cutscene that says why giving him more isn't worth it. You're good OP.
