Issue

The group pathing/follow function for Halsin breaks after fights.

Disclaimer: I haven't played a ton with Halsin as he recently became eligible to join me on my adventures and thus I have very limited data. I didn't experience any issue during his quest-line (one fight) and I'm not sure whether or not he participated in any fight after his quest-line (until I noticed that the kept breaking).

I have tested it on a few fights in the Mountain Pass region. Two fights where AI is using simultaneous actions and one where it's just a single opponent. I've tried one of the fight (Kobolds) multiple time and the issue becomes apparent every time. I also tried one of the fights with Karlach (she has been used extensively during the campaign) and she didn't break.

Also, please note that I am aware that the companion pathing breaks every so often (same goes for enemy combatants in certain areas) but I could always fix that by switching back and forth between characters or using similar actions (I guess: forcing them to recalculate their pathing to the party leader).

Data

Fights tried with Halsin:
- Gremishka
- Kobolds
- Lady Esther(?)

Fights tried with Karlach:
- Gremishka

I feel like someone else has reported something similar, but can't find where. Does anyone else recall this?

Oo, I just posted about this. I'll delete that post and add my experience:

I've encountered an issue where Halsin is in the group but won't follow my party leader. I have a save file where he is following normally, but after the next combat encounter--no matter which encounter it is--he will stop following.

Things I've tried:

Manually unchaining and rechaining Halsin's character portrait to the group.
Toggling Group Mode.
Removing Halsin from the party and inviting him back.
Short resting.
Long resting.
Knocking him out (Halsin did not appreciate that)
Fast travelling locally.
Fast travelling to a different region.
Making Halsin the party leader (rest of group follows him normally, but he goes back to standing still when I switch to a different leader).

At this point I'm at a loss and it seems like I won't be able to use Halsin for the rest of this playthrough unless he leads the party. Would appreciate any help to resolve this issue! tyty

Also had the same problem today, specifically with Halsin when moving through the Rosymorn Monastery area. Unsure if it first happened after a combat, splitting my party in the same zone (jumping to different areas of the monastery), or from using group stealth (was doing all before I noticed) but anything I tried meant Halsin wouldnt follow the group after the bug began. If Halsin was leading, all other companions would follow, but he would never follow others.

As above, I tried:

Unchaining and rechaining
Toggling Group Mode On/Off
Short/Long Rest
Fast travelling locally and to another region
Removing Halsin for another companion in camp, then reinviting Halsin after a rest
Triggering dialogue

I then went to camp and dropped him for Astarion who followed fine, then swapped back and Halsin, who still refused to move.

In the end I just reloaded a save from a couple of hours before to remove the bug.

Fights I tested that triggered the bug were Gremishkas and Eagles.

I've encountered the same issue yesterday night. Also in Rosymorn Monastery. At some point I reloaded a save when Halsin was still working and just cleared the Area without him.

I got through the Crčche and he ended up breaking with the Inquisitor fight. I have not tested wether that's a Mountain Pass specific issue or if he would also break in the shadowlands or Act1 area.

Just encountered this and submitted a bug report. Halsin stops following after entering the Mountain Pass and then engaging in any fight and he remains broken when traveling to other places unfortunately. Reloading a previous save seems to fix it as long as you avoid that area.

So I decided to roll back to before the bug and just not use Halsin for ages... finally used him in Act III and thus far, no bug. So either today's patch fixed it, or Act III did. Not sure which.
