I (like many others, apparently) am playing a Paladin. I chose the Oath of Devotion aka "Knight in Shining Armor" -- my question is for those more familiar with D&D 5E and what, exactly, constitutes "breaking" this Oath. So far I have done my best to handle all matters diplomatically, given peaceful replies when possible, diffused conflict, and of course, when necessary, killed NPCs. However, two big issues arise when trying to properly roleplay this, at least in my view. 1.) Astarion. As a Paladin would I even PERMIT such a person to remain in my party? Would I not slay him outright? Or can I bend this to a point by justifying that what was done to him was, to my knowledge thus far, against his will? 2.) Innocent NPCs enthralled under control; yes, they are attacking me, so in self-defense I protect my fellow party members; this seems acceptable, and I did attempt to use non-lethal force (it didn't work, not sure if that's a bug or something else caused it to fail) before slaying them. Still. What are the rules, here? Thank you ~
